Our Santa Ana ophthalmology clinical research center features two clinical pharmacology units (CPUs) and outpatient sites with full-service research capabilities in ophthalmology, cosmetology and aesthetics. The Santa Ana facility offers a network of more than 20 referring ophthalmologists and optometrists throughout Southern California.

Investigator Profile

Dr. Michael Sheety

Dr. Michael Sheety is the Medical and Surgery Director of Ophthalmology and Aesthetics at WCCT’s clinical ophthalmology research center.

Board-certified and fellowship trained in all aspects of refractive eye care, including suture-less surgery and corneal transplantation, Dr. Sheety has performed thousands of vision correction procedures and has made presentations all over the U.S. on subjects ranging from laser vision correction to macular degeneration. Additionally, he trains other surgeons in vision correction techniques on a monthly basis, and is consulted by other eye surgeons on complicated cases such as decreased vision, nonhealing ulcers, severe scarring and eye transplantations.

In addition to laser vision correction, Dr. Sheety performs reconstructive and cosmetic eyelid surgery. Dr. Sheety has extensive experience in facial cosmetics and reconstruction from traumatic injuries and burns. Currently, he is the chief consultant at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County for all reconstructive eyelid injuries and the Grossman Burn Center at Western Medical Center, Santa Ana.

Prior to joining WCCT as the Medical and Surgery Director of Ophthalmology and Aesthetics, Dr. Sheety conducted over 50 clinical research trials in the areas of ophthalmology and cosmetology/aesthetics.
